Kristin Tubb: Children's Writing and Publishing from A to Z

A few neat highlights from Kristin's Tubb's session!  Her session worked as a friendly, informational chat that allowed questions throughout.

Everyone begins somewhere.

Keep in mind:  who is ultimately the consumer of the work?

Picture books cover the single largest literacy range.  They are difficult to maneuver and can be expensive to produce.

Series are always harder to sell than single books.

Know your word count.  It has to do with production costs.  Publishers look at that.

Young adult and teen are pretty much the same.

New Adult isn't defined yet.

If you are a picture book author, you do not need an illustrator.  If you an author/illustrator, you can submit illustrations.
